Women in Blue begin the ODI series against Bangladesh with a loss. A match affected by rain was won by the hosts as they registered their first ever victory in ODIs again India. Indian bowlers did a great job by restricting the Bangla team to a low total of 152 runs, but the batting woes continued for Women in Blue as they were bundled for a mere 113 runs chasing a revised target of 154.
The Indian batting was exposed in the T20 series , where on two occasions the team scored with a run rate of less than 6 rpo. In the first match, India had chased a total of 115 runs comfortably , giving good signs of batting. However, the next two matches, all those shattered. In the 2nd T20 match, Shafali and Deepthi's heroics saved India from a crushing defeat in a low scoring thriller. However, not everytime the bowlers can save the team. And it was evident in the last T20 as well as today's ODI.
What baffles most of the fans is the fact that India never looked so underconfident in terms of their batting. Boasting few of the best batters in the world, the team always looked good with the bat. It was their bowling which was an issue. However, the last 3 matches played by the team, tables have turned as bowling looks good, while batting has massively faltered.
And if they want to look good in the next matches, the team needs to relook the way they are playing. Most of the wickets are falling due to poor shot selection. Having experienced batters in the side, it's a necessity for them to step up for the team and perform. With the bowling performing well, one can expect good victories for the team if the batting line-up fires well. Hopefully that happens in the match to follow.
