The joint most successful franchise of IPL, Chennai Super Kings announced Ruturaj Gaikwad as the rightful heir to MS Dhoni's legacy. A shock as it was to know that MS Dhoni is no more the captain, it was a sweet surprise to see that his legacy will be carried forward by a young Gaikwad, who shows some kind of similarity in thought process of MS Dhoni. A bitter sweet moment for the CSK fans, has garnered the world's attention and has seen Ruturaj receiving lot of support from CSK fans.

It was always evident that some day or the other it might happen, that one day Dhoni's services as a captain might be stopped. And when it happened, it was a daunting task to chose a rightful heir to the throne of CSK. They tried their luck with Ravindra Jadeja in the last season, but it didn't quite work out, and eventually Dhoni had to lead again. The only captain to breach Gabba, Ajinkya Rahane was another wonderful option to go ahead with, but looking at his age it was a doubt on how long he might continue to play. And hence, Ruturaj Gaikwad is the apt choice for the team, as he is a promising batter, and a visionary leader.

When given a chance to lead the Indian side in Asian Games, the team under his leadership fetched gold for the country. His antics as a skipper in domestic circuit for Maharashtra are also critically applauded by many. His calm head over the shoulders aids him to take good decisions at crucial times. His ability to tackle pressure situations has been tested on a few occasions, where he has managed to live up to the expectations. His team members have spoken highly of him in the Asian Games, and so has been the case of his Maharashtra team members. In a nutshell, he looks a great contender for the captaincy, which he got today.

MS Dhoni and Ruturaj, both exhibit the qualities of being cool captains. And also both of them have great presence of mind. In his very first match as a captain against Pakistan in 2007 T20 world cup, Dhoni showed great presence of mind during bowl outs. And when no one trusted him, his abilities and his team did the job. When senior players and captains refused to play the world cup, a young Dhoni proved everyone wrong by winning the title.
