Pathetic umpiring, and equally bad sportsmanship from Harmanpreet

The 3rd odi between India Women and Bangladesh Women made it to the headlines for all the wrong reasons. An exceptional effort by Bangladesh Women to tie the match and series against a strong Indian team was overshadowed by a flurry of reasons. Umpiring standards in the match were below average, and the decisions made raised many eye-brows. If this wasn't enough, the reaction from Indian skipper Harmanpreet Kaur further worsened the situation.
The entire series between the two neighbours went good. The T20 series saw some low scoring thrillers. The same happened in the odi series as well. All the matches played on slow tracks were low scoring and went good. And everything was going good in right spirit of the game. However , all changed in the last odi, which ended up in a tie. Some really poor decisions by the umpire denied India a victory, and it also overshadowed Bangla bowlers' effort to restrict a star studded and deep Indian batting line-up.
Firstly it was the poor lbw call from umpires which dismissed Yastika Bhatia. It was followed by yet another pathetic error of judgement which dismissed skipper Harmanpreet Kaur. And finally it was the ultimate dismissal of Meghana Singh, which was doubtful as well. These poor calls cost India their well deserved game. The DRS not available for the series made it impossible to challenge the poor decisions made by umpire. In a nutshell, it was one of those matches which had worst umpiring with no option to recheck the decisions. And for that there should be action taken on the umpires.
However, apart from just poor umpiring, bad sportsmanship from Harmanpreet also was the talk of the town. One can understand the frustration of given wrongly out, but that doesn't give the player the right to smash the stumps with the bat. Her actions were utterly stupid and childish, and presented a wrong example to youngsters. One can defend it by saying heat of the moment, but what she spoke to Nigar Sultana post the match was definitely not great to see. The only thing she did right was to point umpiring errors in presentation, rest all her actions were not in a good taste, and it demanded disciplinary action which is take by ICC now.
As a spectator I would also like to see the umpires being called out and punished for their consistent poor decisions. And one could wish to see better umpiring in an international match, particularly where DRS is not used. And even if umpires are wrong, the players should have better ways to vent their frustration rather than hitting the stumps or calling out opposition captain post the match. In a nutshell, this match was an excellent one for the fans , a thriller, however it will be wrongly remembered for ridiculous umpiring and poor sportsmanship from Indian skipper. Hoping to see better from umpires as well as skipper in the matches to come.
