Back in 2012, when Sachin Tendulkar was asked the question on whom does he think would possibly break his record for most centuries, Sachin replied by stating the names of Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. And living up to the trust of the living legend himself, the duo did wonders for Indian cricket. While Rohit Sharma shattered many records in ICC tournaments, and has a complete stronghold on the double century column in ODI, Virat established himself as a run-machine who was on a roll making centuries for fun. And today, on the occasion of his 35th birthday, the run-machine has equalled the God's record of most centuries in ODI.

The U-19 captain of India has come a long way, showing that the faith shown in him was completely worth it. The chubby boy from Delhi, who received his first man of the match due to Gautam Gambhir's gesture of handing over his trophy to young Kohli, eventually became the Man of many matches for India. In most of the crucial times, the team heavily relies on him, and he never disappoints them. He performs, when it matters the most. He stands tall in the situations where the team needs someone to carry it forward. And similar was the situation today, when on a difficult pitch, with India 2 wickets down Kohli did what he does the best. And in process he reached to his 49th ODI hundred.

A thunderous applause rose down from the stands in the stadium, to the households who were watching their hero on the television sets in their own homes. The applause was for a special reason. The only man to score 49 centuries, Sachin Tendulkar was not the only one now, as the chasemaster equalled his idol's record. If someone said 10 years back that anyone could break invincible record of God, the person would've been termed as a crazy. But its only the crazy people like Virat who can achieve the same. Sheer consistency, hunger for runs and the constant urge to do something even better for the team every time he steps up on the field has led him to the level of the player that he is today. And just like there can be no other Sunil Gavaskar, no other Sachin Tendulkar, similarly there can be no other Virat Kohli, who would soak in the pressure of expectations to stand tall amongst all.
