With his 76th century, he overtook Sachin Tendulkar's record of 75 centuries after 500 international matches. And it's a special century coming in a special match which is 100th Test match between India and West Indies. It's his 3rd individual century against West Indies, 2nd best amongst active players after Ravichandran Ashwin who has 4 against the Caribbean side, a record which considering all time players is held by Sunil Gavaskar who has mammoth 13.

Virat looked fluent in his basics in this match. He hardly was troubled by the Caribbeans. He stuck to the basics, and showed his class by hitting his cover drives and textbook shots cleanly. He had the patience to wait for the bowlers to ball on his leg, which all he converted into runs. In addition to this, his swift running between the wickets allowed him to convert 1s into 2s. And a result of every run, he reached to his 76th century. He started off exactly where he left in the last match, where he barely missed the the ton.

Earlier in the innings, skipper Rohit Sharma and Yashasvi Jaiswal continued to bat the way they did in the first match. And post their wicket, it was Virat's game. Gill, Rahane fell early on, but Jadeja stuck with Virat and both built a partnership. On a slow wicket and slow outfield, they both ran hard to fetch runs. And they showed great temparement to wait for the right balls to hit. And once they got into the groove, they continued till King reached to his 76th century, and Jadeja showed his sword celebration. And they continue to bat even now.

Every century from Virat is special. However this one is special one for the stats as well. His full face of the bat, elbow-up drives is a treat to watch. His cover drives, flick of the wrist , mid-on drives make cricket the game look interesting. His swift running between the wickets take came away from the opposition. And his energy and enthusiasm on the field inspires many who want to take this sport. He is a mentality monster, which is why his hunger for runs continues to grow even at the age of 34. And without a doubt, it will continue to rise and inspire everyone. On this auspicious occasion, we congratulate him for his 76th century and wish to see him hit many more in future.
