Kolkata Knight Riders completely outplayed Sunrisers Hyderabad in a clinical victory which yielded them their well deserved title. Winning their 3rd title in the history of richest and most popular franchise league, the team became 3rd most successful team in the league. The team which hardly did any good in the last few seasons, suddenly rose to the occasion under the leadership of Shreyas Iyer and guidance of Gambhir, Bharat Arun and Abhishek Nayar, giving joy to the fans in Kolkata and their supporters worldwide.

Shreyas Iyer looked confident right since the press conference, and has clearly stated that his team has an upper hand over the Cummins' men and that he was sure about KKR's victory. His confidence also reflected in the way he answered the journalists stating that position of player during the photo doesn't matter, and is unnecessarily created by spoke about. And living up to his words, his team under his leadership lived up to the expectations of KKR fans, by continuing their purple patch of form against SRH. They replicated their performance against the same team in the Qualifiers to clinch on to the title.

The most expensive pick of this season, Mitchell Starc justified his value by dismissing the in-form Abhishek Sharma. And he was very well complemented by Vaibhav Arora who swung the ball both ways. The KKR pacers gave no chance to the SRH batting line-up and they pierced into them brutally. Claiming a total of 8 wickets through pacers, the team gave no breather to SRH, whose team fell like a pack of cards. The fact that the highest scorer of Hyderabad was Cummins with his 24 run knock shows how ruthlessly have KKR bowled. A result of which the team to score the highest total in IPL , found themselves to be the lowest scorers in IPL final history tallying to a meagre total of 114 runs.

A small total like 115 was a piece of cakewalk for Iyer's men, as they required only 4 batters to chase it down and win the match by a whopping 8 wickets. Opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz and 1 down Venkatesh Iyer launched a scathing attack on Hyderabad bowlers. It looked like Iyer had plans of finishing the match within 8-9 overs. Eventually he did it by achieving the total in 10.2 overs, and meanwhile he set the record of fastest fifty in an IPL final. A final mishit by Venkatesh went behind the keeper, and along with the two Iyers on the crease, entire KKR dugout erupted and ran towards the centre in ecstacy.

One can imagine the craziness of the moment when one saw Gautam Gambhir and Sunil Narine both smiling at the same time, which might've happened only once in lifetime. Gambhir's strategies had done the job of defeating Cummins' leadership. A video of him motivating the players mentioning about treating everyone equal and having one goal of winning the IPL did rounds on the internet. He once had said that he was there not to smile, but to win the matches for his team, and he did it. He did it by defeating the most lethal team of this IPL twice in knockouts. With the victory, he also refuted the claims that Pat Cummins is undefeated in the finals of any tournament.

The victory was special for everyone, expect for the Hyderabad fans. The captain who gave broke a billion hearts in World Cup 2023 was finally defeated by the duo of an Indian captain and Indian coach. Which is why this victory holds more value than just an IPL Trophy. It signifies that proper planning, immaculate execution and the right mindset can defeat the mentality monsters who we face. And it shows the in order to beat a mentality monster, you've to be be the same. Everyone knows the importance of Gautam Gambhir against Australia and in all knockout matches India had played, and now everyone understands the role he can play going ahead. Amidst the news of him being the next coach if India, this victory is a testament of how much improvement he can bring if he gets a chance to do so. And certainly, we hope to do so.
