Bangladesh redeemed themselves for their loss in 2019 test against Afghanistan, by registering a massive win against the same team today. Afghanistan, who were playing without their star player Rashid Khan, are at the receiving end of an unfortunate record to their name. Bangladesh won the game by a mammoth 546 runs, making it the largest victory in the 21st century ,and the 3rd largest victory in terms of margin of runs.

Najmul Hossain Shanto was the hero for Bangladesh. He scored twin centuries in the match, becoming the 2nd Bangla player to do so, and was complimented by Mominal Haque who reached the three digit mark in 2 nd innings. Along with these two, Zakir Hassan, Mahmadul Hasan Joy, Litton Das played their part by reaching to their respective half-centuries.

The Bangla team outplayed Afghanistan in all the three departments. Afghanistan bowlers hardly made life difficult for Bangla bowlers, and their batters barely got going in both the innings. On the contrary, Bangladesh bowling was up to the mark, with Ebadot Hossain leading the wicket chart in 1st innings, and Taskin Ahmed in the 2nd . The Afghan team could not even cross 150 run mark , as they were dismissed for 146 and 115 in the two innings.

The way this test was going, it was evident that Bangladesh is going to win it. However, no one expected them to win it by such a huge margin. But the little or no resistance offered by Afghan players helped Bangla team's cases and their discipline in bowling won them the match, which now goes into the record books.

One might argue that this victory by Bangla Tigers came against a comparatively weaker team, which hardly has any test experience. But one cannot ignore the fact , that this is the same Afghanistan team who won one odd test match against Bangladesh in 2019, and also have test victories against Ireland and Zimbabwe. And to defeat them by such a huge margin is an achievement. Also not to forget that that Bangladesh team had fought back to win a match against New Zealand in their own backyard back in 2022. The Bangladesh team looks good now, and they can path themselves with their performance today which has helped them go in record books.
