Cricket has a beautiful history. A game which started back in 18 th century, has now transformed into one of the most popular sports across the globe. It's been more than a century since the game is played with defined set of rules and regulations, which makes the game interesting. England, Australia, West Indies are few teams which have been playing the game for a long time. In these many years, if someone asks to pick a international team considered as most fearful or invincible, one would probably think of West Indies of 1970's or Australia of 2000's.

While the West Indian domination eventually started to fade in the late 90's , Australia continues to dominate the world cricket even today. One of the earliest countries to play the beautiful game, Australia has dominated the world cricket for the longest period of time, and they continue to be a threat to the opposition even today at any place , with any players they play. Right since Sir Don Bradman, to Steve Smith, every Aussie team has brought laurels to their country.

One doesn't need statistics to show why Men in Yellow are the all time best in their business. But still if some decide to look the stats, they clearly favour the Aussies. Boasting a total 9 ICC trophies including 5 odi world cups, 1 T20 world cup, 2 champions trophy and the test mace once, Kangaroos have clearly proved their prowess in all the formats of the game.

It's not just their men's team which brings laurels to their country. The Australia Women's cricket team is the most successful team in history of women's cricket. They have single handedly dominated women's game having 7 odi world cups, 6 T20 world cups and a Commonwealth gold medal. Meg Lanning has had a phenomenal record of having winning streak of more than 25 matches on more than one occasions.

The success of Australia is so huge, that hardly any team can reach to their level in the few decades to come. Every other country celebrate the days of every their world cup victories with lot of excitement in every year. If Australians start doing it, probably there will be celebrations twice in every month for rejoicing their world cup victory happened in that particular month. But what makes this team such a hard team to beat ? What is so special about them ?

It's the Australian attitude of never giving up. Australia is a sport loving country. And it reflects in the way they play. They put their heart on the sleeve every time they are on the field. They always put their team above anyone else. Their dedication to the game is extreme and their preparation to the game is spot on. They're ready to face any challenge coming their way, and hence they don't feel any pressure even in the most nerve wrecking situations.

Furthermore, the domestic circuit of Australia is designed in a way that anyone who comes through these obstacles has undergone rigorous training and is prepared to take on the challenge. In addition to this, Australian attitude of winning at any costs helps has always helped their case. At times using rules in their favour, at times sledging the opposition to the worst level is something Aussies have followed. They never shy away from getting involved in heated exchanges happening on the field. They don't care about what others think. They just care about their team's victory.

They are beaming with confidence. They have a superiority attached to them psychologically , which is so strong that even when someone from opposite team plays well , they term it like "he/she played like an Australian!!" The monster mentality helps them get through most of the difficult times and turn the tide in their favour. However , in spite of being so much self confident, they are open to cricitism from their senior players, which leaves room for improvement of individuals.

These contributing factors combined together helps greatly in their gavour. There were times when they had the best team in the world, which made their task easy. However, even when the team doesn't have any superstars or someone notable, they still manage to win due to all the mentioned qualities. The best example was of 2021 T20 world cup semi final against Pakistan, when possibly none other team could have hit the best bowler of tournament Shaheen Afridi in such a way to snatch the game away from them. And out of nowhere, they clinched the title.

All these qualities have helped Australia have a upper hand not just in cricket, but also a few other sports which they have dominated. Australia is one of those teams , which might or might not be anyone's favourite, but everyone knows how special they are. Love them or hate them, one cannot ignore Australia. And one cannot think of underestimating them even in the dreams. One doesn't know what the future holds for them, but with the amount of time they have dominated the game, it's fair to say they deserve to be at the top, and there can be no one to match their level.
