After stamping their authority in the IPL and WPL, the most successful franchise of Indian league are crowned as the champions of Major League Cricket. The Mumbai Indians New York emerged victorious over Seattle Orcas to win the inaugural edition of the franchise cricket league happening in the United States. The news has got all the Mumbai Indian fans across the globe go bonkers and rejoice the moment.
The star of the match was the stand-in skipper Nicholas Pooran who single handedly snatched the victory from Seattle Orcas team. The southpaw from Caribbean displayed his array of shots and played an exquisite knock of 137 runs off just 55 deliveries to help his team fetch the title. With 13 towering sixes and 10 boundaries, he solely turned the match in his favour, and made a target like 184 look small. He was the lone man standing for MINY, as the second best individual contributor was Brevis with 20 runs.
Earlier in the first innings, the two most experienced bowlers in the side , Trent Boult and Rashid Khan scalped 3 wickets each to stop Seattle from scoring big after the initial onslaught of Quinton De Kock. The former Mumbai Indians wicketkeeper and opener played a knock of 87 runs of 52 deliveries powering the Seattle innings to a good total till he was at the crease. However, in spite of having the perfect launch pad, the rest of their team couldn't capitalise on the start thereby ending the innings for 183 runs, which MI New York chased comfortably.
The entire tournament was the one to remember for Mumbai Indians. Kieron Pollard led the side extremely well throughout the tournament. After suffering from an injury, the batton of captaincy was passed on to another Carribbean in the form of Nicholas Pooran, who led from the front subsequently getting the title for his team. And with it, the Mumbai Indians franchise have added another feather in their cap, this time in United States. This tournament is a major milestone to promote the game in United States, and it's fair enough to say that the purpose of the league is served. We congratulate Mumbai Indians for the triumph.
