Men in Blue clinch to a clinical victory continuing the winning streak

Backed by the noise of a mammoth 130000 supporters, Men in Blue continued their winning streak against arch rivals Pakistan. On 8th consecutive occasion in odi world cups, the Indian team emerged victorious in the high voltage match, without much hassle. Calm headed Rohit Sharma powered the clinical victory for the team, along with significant contribution from the entire bowling unit.

The Indian team, known for their batting lived up to the hype of being called a batting prowess. On the other hand, Pakistan who is known for their world class bowlers could not match the expectations hovering around them, as every single bowler struggled to deliver when it mattered the most. The match was a tale of contrasting approaches, as India were eclectic in the field, with the bat as well as ball and Pakistan were below par in all the aspects. Overpowering Men in Green in all the departments, India registered a clinical victory.

Winning the toss, skipper Rohit asked Pak team to bat first. Knowing the pitch and Pakistan's record batting first, at first it looked like a mistake. And likewise was the case till Babar and Rizwan were on the crease. At a point the team looked to go around 280-290 runs when scorecard read 155/2. What followed then was a nightmare for Pakistan. The next 80 balls saw 8 Pak batters run back to pavilion, in exchange of scoring just 36 runs. Indian bowlers pulled out a spectacular turnaround leaving the Pak team struggle at 191 runs before ending their innings. All the bowlers breathed fire, and barring Thakur all of them had couple of wickets to their name.

And a hopeful Pakistan was deceived by India's batters, who utilised every opportunity to decimate the Pak bowlers. The innings started with Indian skipper hitting a boundary right on the first ball. After owning Indian's capital in the previous match, it seemed like Rohit never had a break in between. He continued to display his array of shots with sheer elegance and effortlessness. Continuing his habit of reaching newer milestones every day, he reached to a tally of 300 sixes in odi cricket. He looked all set for consecutive century, but fell short of 14. His 63 balls 86 run innings had yet again provided Indian team a strong hold in the game.

Apart from the skipper, Shubhman Gill, who just came after being infected with dengue, looked in his best elements. He timed the ball sweetly. And likewise was the case with Virat. However, both of them couldn't convert it to big runs and fell shortly. Then it was Shreyas Iyer who complemented Hitman really well, and in process went on to hit the winning runs thereby reaching to his maiden half century in World cup. A collective effort from Rohit Sharma with the bat, and spearhead Bumrah with the ball sealed the hopes of Pakistan as India registered a mammoth win by 7 wickets.

With the victory, India cruise to the top of the table. And this victory, along with the wins against Australia and Afghanistan are helping the fans rejoice the game once again. The past 6 months have been really disappointing for the fans, and seeing this turnaround gives glimpses of hope. And Men in Blue are living up to the expectations of the fans. They have batted well, fielded well and bowled well. The only challenge remaining for our team is to bat first and post a good total. All the 3 victories have come while chasing. Setting a good total, chasing a total around 350 odd, and getting a chance to test lower order with the bat are crucial factors going ahead in the tournament. And if all these happen, the team will be invincible in the World Cup. Hoping to see it happen.
