Blue Tigers, led by Sunil Chettri are the champions of Intercontinental Cup, continuing their winning streak in the cup. The unbeaten team in the tournament won the final with 2-0 against a comparatively high ranked Lebanon. Captain Sunil Chettri and Chhangte scored for India in the second half for India, who didn't concede any goal in the match.

Blue Tigers, who were playing for the first time in Bhubaneswar, will now have strong memories attached to the stadium. Having defeated Mongolia, Vanuatu, and tied the group stage match against Lebanon, India emerged victorious in the final against Lebanon, thereby being undefeated at the venue.

Both the teams couldn't score in the first half. But as the second half began, a behind-the-back nutmeg by Nikhil Poojary, followed by Chhangte's pass and perfect finish by Indian skipper turned the tide in our favour. And further in the 65th minute, Chhangte scoring his first and second one for India strengthened Blue Tiger's case. Excellent defending from India denied Lebanon any goal. And when the final whistle blew, the crowd erupted to see the home team crowned as champions.

Indian football team gave a moment to cherish for the fans. And their performance is noteworthy since the past few days. India has a lot of football fans. However, in spite of boasting fans who are awake in the night to watch European football, the legend of Indian football and our skipper Sunil Chettri had to plead the fans to come to stadium and watch them play several times. And the crowd had responded. And if Indian team continues to give such occasions to the fans, there is no doubt that football will rise in the country.

When it does exactly happen, only time will tell, but one can be sure of the Indian football team which will continue to be a. Inspiration for reasons on and off the field. A gesture from football team to donate 20 lakh rupees to the Balasore train tradegy victims shows how much the team cares about others. They don't just win trophies, they also win hearts. And hopefully they will be an inspiration to few other sportsmen who would like to think on the lines of Indian football team.
